Letter to Parents

December 2011

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are nearing the end of term 1, and class 6T has been busy!  Over the past month, several students finished some wonderful and interesting projects about the Titanic (be sure to take a look at them on the Pictures and Projects page!).  The students who attended the 3-day Eco-venture trip in October made some spectacular and informative presentations about their experience.  We are about to round off the term with our book report presentations.

Class 6T would like to send a big THANK YOU out to all the parent volunteers who helped out with our National Day celebrations last week, and the year 6 fundraiser.  The whole school recognized the 40th National Day of the UAE with festive decorations, traditional UAE costumes, dancing and samples of Arabic foods.  It was a great day and fantastic to see the whole school work together.  If you were unable to pitch in this term, don’t worry – there will be plenty of opportunities to volunteer or become involved in term 2, so stay tuned.

I would like to remind everyone about our “Book Report Tea Party” on Tuesday, December 6th.  The students of 6T have worked hard on their book reports, and have put together some really creative and entertaining presentations.  The first presentation will begin at 9am, and will be followed by tea, coffee, juice and treats.  If you can’t make the live performance Tuesday morning, don’t fret!  We will have an encore “performance” (watch the video) on Thursday, December 8th beginning at 6:30pm – complete with popcorn!  Both events will take place in the 6T classroom.

Just a few quick reminders…
•    The last day of term 1 is December 16th.  School will close at 12:00pm.
•    Winter Break is December 19th  – January 3rd
•    Please continue checking your child’s homework notebook on a daily basis.

Class 6T would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday!  Remember, if you have any questions, comments, or just want to say hello, you can reach me anytime at lthomas@abcschool.com or 123-456-7890.

Sincerely,

Liz Thomas
